A aula aberta dirigida pela Professora Kitty Stewart, Professora Adjunta na London School of Economics e Diretora Associada no Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE), destina-se principalmente aos alunos de Doutoramento e Mestrado das áreas de Política Social, Ciência Política e Administração Pública.
O objetivo da iniciativa passa por familiarizar os estudantes com temas relevantes de investigação das áreas já descritas, com grande impacto no desenvolvimento e implementação de Políticas Públicas.
Irão ser abordados temas como:
- Impact of poverty on families and children, drawing both on a systematic review and recent qualitative interviews for an on-going project about benefit cuts for larger families in the UK;
- The impact of a recent cut in benefits (the imposition of a ‘two-child limit’ in means-tested benefits) on paid employment;
- Changes in child poverty in the UK across the last 25 years and how they show that social policy can make a big difference, and we could discuss why and consider lessons for both sides from the comparison.
